Engine

The heart of any truck is the engine that brings it to life. Your truck is a tool you use to make life happen, so let's compare the engine options for both the 2026 Ram 1500 and the 2026 Ford F-150. From tried and true

How do I choose the right engine in my new truck?
Ask yourself a few questions before you start shopping so we can help you better.

Are you planning to do any towing and hauling? Do you have a boat or a camper, or plan to get one? What does it weigh loaded with trailer?
Do you plan to work with your truck and if so, what kind of work? Are you towing a lawn trailer, or just loading up a few tools and a couple ladders?
Do you use it as a daily driver, getting groceries and driving to work? Are you looking for comfort and features over heavy performance?
Are you looking for power or fuel efficiency, or a mix of both?

Our helpful sales team will be happy to work through these questions with you so we can put you in the RIGHT truck.

The Hurricane I-6 (Standard or High Output) is a modern alternative to the traditional V8 that is efficient, modern and powerful. With likely better fuel economy than many older, big-block V8 engines, you'll get plenty of performance, especially with the High Output version.

The HEMI V8 gives you that classic truck engine with V8 sound, a muscular feel and broad torque curve that you've learned to love over the years.
